Maintaining Healthy Financial Habits

Jul 20
2 min read

Life has a way of knocking us off track and putting us in situations where we find ourselves repeating old habits.

Sometimes we will put down an unhealthy habit, and overtime we forget the pain and suffering that habit once created, then we unwisely pick it back up again.

Maintaining healthy financial habits require:

  • Making cautious, intentional decisions each day

  • Being aware

  • Choosing discipline

  • Creating boundaries

You must be intentional in your decision making and your ability to say no in challenging situations. You must maintain awareness of any past mistakes to ensure you are not repeating those habits. You must maintain the discipline needed to not feed old habits, and you must have the boundaries in place to maintain healthy habits.

So be aware, be alert, and be careful to not feed the old habits.

  • Don't go back to debt if you have gotten out.

  • Don't go back to maxing out that credit card.

  • Don't go back to having nothing saved or poor saving habits.

  • Don't go back to loaning out money you can't afford to lend.

  • Don't go back to overspending and spending frivolously.

Break the bad financial habits! And once they are broken, be mindful that you DON’T GO BACK!

Never Stay Down, Always Get Back Up!

If you fall back, it's not the end of the world. Just pick yourself back up again. But this is your reminder to maintain awareness of your habits so that you can break the cycle and walk toward financial freedom.

Question?

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you avoided a financial move because you knew it would set you back financially? I'd love to hear your experience. Please share it with me in the comments.
