Your Choices Matter: Choosing Financial Wisdom

I recently received a tax refund, and a few days before receiving my refund, I was eager to spend it on things that were not in my budget. Although I had already created a plan and strategy for how I would use the money wisely, as soon as it came close to the time for me to receive it, I was ready to spend it on things that were not in the plan, things that would have set me back financially.

Too often we make plans for our money but never actually follow through, leaving us in a state of lack. I knew spending money on anything that was not planned could set me back, but I wanted to enjoy my funds and not stick to the unexciting task of paying off debt and expenses.

However, I reflected on past times when I made poor financial decisions. I thought about how those choices made me feel, and I recalled the discomfort of not having enough, the constant feeling of lack, and the pressure of having to overwork just to keep up. These thoughts and feelings were powerful reminders that I needed to stick to my strategy and stay on the right path. The feeling of lack is deeply uncomfortable, especially when it’s caused by your own poor choices.

I am reminded to spend wisely, give wisely, save realistically, and become debt free. I may not get to spend how I want to now, but once my debts are paid off, I’ll be able to spend more freely later, without a negative impact on my finances.

Too often we make plans for our money and when we have the money in our hands, we do not stick to the plan. This blog is your reminder: stick to the plan!

The plan may feel boring and unexciting at times but if we put away the fun now, the feeling will be far more rewarding later.

Hey Amanda! This really resonated with me. It’s so easy to have a plan until the money actually arrives. Remembering the “why” behind our financial decisions makes all the difference. Discipline today really does create freedom later. Thank you for this reminder!

This was a good read! It reminded me how in everything strategy and having a plan in advance is important. I love how you mentioned you had to use financial wisdom and how we need to use wisdom before we spend our money.
